Under 12 Introduction to Contact
This age group will be divided by gender (if numbers permit) and plays a 7s format.
In this age group players move into the introduction to contact phase of development. They learn to safely tackle, engage in rucks, 3 man uncontested scrums and line-outs.
They will also continue to learn ball handling, passing, and defense but will also learn more 'senior' rugby specific areas such as game strategy and set-plays.
Starts: May 7th, 2026
Coaches:
TBD & Darcy Werger
Practice: Tuesdays 6 - 7pm
Thursdays 6 - 7 pm
Notre Dame School

Under 14 Rugby
This age group will play both 10s and 13s formats. At the under 14 level, teams are separated by gender. We begin to put more focus on the specific positions of rugby, adding more structure to game play and allowing everyone to get a feel for what it’s like to play every position: from ‘prop’ and ‘lock’, out to the ‘winger’. Ball handling, passing, and defense will continue to be a main focus...always working on the basics!
Starts: May 7th, 2026
Coaches: David Douglas, Richard Petan & Dan Thompson
Practice: Tuesdays &
Thursdays 6:30 - 8:00pm
Notre Dame School
Games: Primarily Sunday mornings.
Rugby Gear:
U6 - U10 players do not need any special gear. They will be provided with a rugby top and we have belts and flags for use at practices and festivals. They should dress comfortably for the weather and wear running shoes or molded cleats (like soccer).
U12 - 18 players require a mouth guard as they are playing contact rugby. It is recommended that they wear molded cleats. A training top, rugby shorts and socks are included with regsitration and we have game jerseys for game day.
